Wike Unveils Why He Pulled Out of PDP Reconciliatory Committee

Governor Nyesom Wike

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Yesterday, disengaged himself from a peace panel organised by Edo People’s Democratic Party chapter ahead of the gubernatorial election.

The aggrieved governor on Tuesday, June 23, alleged that there are some persons in the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) who are bent on bringing his name into the mud. Speaking further on the decision, Wike said he cannot continue to associate with people who “behave like tax collectors.”

According to a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Paulinus Nsirim, Wike spoke in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.

The Rivers State Governor said the National Working Committee, instead of carrying everybody along in Edo State, resorted to using the media to blackmail him.

“They said because an order was obtained from a Federal High Court in Port Harcourt, then I am responsible.

“I have had sleepless nights to resolve the issue in Edo State. The governors of Edo, Adamawa, and Delta states know what I have done to resolve the issues in Edo State.” Wike said.

“As a result of this senseless accusation, I have pulled out of Edo State settlement. My integrity matters.

“Nobody will rubbish me by raising false accusations against me. I will fight back.” He added

The Nation reports that the former governor of Rivers state said he knows nothing about the crisis rocking the party as being speculated in some quarters.

He also cautioned his supporters and Rivers people to shun violence, adding violence was not the best way to resolve any issue.
